Barolo Chinato
Barolo Chinato is a type of aromatised sweet red wine, typical of Piedmont and the Langhe region in particular. It starts with a base of Barolo wine to which a mixture of wine alcohol and sugar is added in which certain herbs have previously macerated, such as quinine. The end result is left to age in barrels for about a year. The resulting wine is intense and full-bodied, and in the past it was used as a medicinal tonic but nowadays it’s regarded as a splendid meditation wine and a delicious complement to chocolate. A product with an abundance of character, it’s available from Vinissimus at an exceptional price for the quality, and delivered directly to your door.
