Salcheto

Salcheto was founded as a small family winery and has been run by Michele Manelli since 1994, virtually becoming a wine laboratory of ecological sustainability and low environmental impact thanks to the energy efficiency measures carried out in all parts of the production process from the vine to the bottle. Minimum intervention is allowed in the vineyard, where they only use non-mechanical methods so as to protect and respect the biodiversity of the land, including the nature and make-up of the soils.

The Salcheto brand is recognized for its unique and eclectic reinterpretation of the tradition of great Tuscan wines from Montepulciano; producing mainly, but not only, red wines. The Obvius range is the perfect example of their philosophy; pure grape juice, with no additives or sulphites. The top of the range Obvius Giallo Oro is a white wine made from Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes partially raisined by the first effects of noble rot on the vines. It is a blend of different vintages vinified and aged in wooden barrels to create a fresh and easy-to-drink wine, a modern version of the style of Sauternes or traditional Tuscan wines.

The Nobile Riserva stands out among the red wines, made from partially raisined grapes and vinified following the famous centuries-old Tuscan governo all'uso toscano method of adding partially-dried late-harvest grapes to must already undergoing fermentation. Among their more classic wines, Salcheto produce the young Nobile, with a notable level of acidity, and the Nobile estate wine from the Salco plot, a pleasant and balsamic Nobile which is well worth trying. The Rosso di Montepulciano is a young and dynamic wine, ideal for everyday drinking; a very fruity drink brimming with the liveliness of a young full-blooded wine.
