Dehesa La Granja

Alejandro Fernández, the renowned Ribera winemaker, was attracted to vine-growing country in Zamora for his third winery, and returned this estate to its original use – the land had been used for breeding fighting bulls. In a superb location on the banks of the River Guareña, the buildings are very much in keeping with the local and natural environment. In fact, in the mid 18th Century, largeteams of workmen hacked their way underground through layers of rock to create a maze of passages. Nowadays, oak barrels line these cellars, providing the perfect storage place for the wine to age, after being processed through the modern facilities established above.

Around 250 ha of Tempranillo vines have been planted in the meadow lands, surrounded by ancient holm oaks and other oak trees. They enjoy a favoured microclimate, influenced by the Guareña valley, where some very old non-grafted vines were discovered and used in plantation.

The Pesquera Group is made up of two Ribera del Duero wineries, Tinto Pesquera and Condado de Haza; El Vínculo in Castile-La Mancha; and Dehesa La Granja in Castile-León.
