Clos Lentiscus
At Clos Lentiscus, at the foot of Montgròs, the land has always been worked, but it was not until 2001, when Manel Avinyó's father (the current owner) passed away, that a new cycle began for the family estate. The uncultivated vines were replanted and the cellar and the Avinyó family farmhouse were restored.
Today, the house is surrounded by some 20 hectares of vineyards planted mainly with local varieties, especially Sitges malvasia, white xarel-lo, xarel-lo vermell and sumoll. Clos Lentiscus is deeply in love with the latter variety, despite the complexity involved in making good wines from it. Malvasía de Sitges is the other star grape of the house, as evidenced by the fact that they were the first to make a single-varietal sparkling wine with it.
The essence of agriculture in the sandy and calcareous soils of Lentiscus is biodynamic. The vineyards are located in a protected site: the Garraf Natural Park, a fact that guarantees organic farming for all its neighbours and a good conservation of the environment. They face south, enjoying the sun and the sea breeze and with very mild thermal contrasts that make the wines very pleasant.
