Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza
Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza is located within the municipality of Laguardia, at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, in a really beautiful part of the Rioja Alavesa, on the edge of the vine-growing region.
Pujanza started out on its path in 1998, under the direction of Carlos San Pedro, descended from a family of vine growers with three generations of experience accumulated over time. Those very first bottles made on the family's premises held a unique wine which featured the winery's name on the label. Then in 2001, a remarkable Rioja vintage, the grapes began arriving at the new winery building which has nowadays become an obligatory place of pilgrimage for any Rioja wine lover.
Right from the beginning, Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza chose to concentrate its greatest efforts on the vines, providing the grapes with all the devoted care and attention they deserve. The whole vineyard area is estate-owned and situated close to the winery, which is a great help for transporting the grapes and for keeping a rigorous check on the vineyards. Tempranillo and Viura are the only varieties grown, which once again shows a huge respect for Rioja's history and traditions.
In the winery they amalgamate the knowledge gained over generations and precise technical advancements to ensure an elegant and complex wine profile that bears a strong sense of terroir. All the wines are matured in French oak barrels for at least 12 months, then make their way to tables all over the world, proud of their Rioja heritage and complete with exciting tasting sensations.
With his industrious and diligent work ethic, Carlos San Pedro has joined forces with the Navascués family in Viñedos de Mancuso.
