Bodegas Tarsus
Bodegas Tarsus is a winery in the style of a Bordeaux château located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, where it produces high concentration wines with profound aromas and great ageing potential. The winery's origins date back to 1987, when Iñigo Moreno de Arteaga acquired the property's 86 hectares of vineyards. It was there, close to a small pine grove in Anguix (Burgos), that the construction of new buildings would take place in 1998, where Tarsus makes wines from its own select terroir, seeking to extract excellence and all the goodness from its indigenous varieties.
The estate is separated into twenty-one parcels, depending upon soil type, grape variety and each individual orientation. Out of the total area under vines, 82 hectares are given over to the cultivation of Tinta del País and the other 4 ha to Cabernet Sauvignon, with vines averaging 12 years old. Tarsus has been a pioneer in the use of the double wire trellising system in vineyard plantation, enabling the plants to have the best possible vegetative and physiological evolution and the fruit to develop better and more healthily. Harvesting and vinification of each parcel is carried out separately with the clear objective of making the most of the vineyard's unique features, using meticulous production and ageing methods. This results in intense, rounded and concentrated wines, reflecting the essence of the denomination in its purest form.
Bodegas Tarsus belongs to the eminent Pernod Ricard group, incorporating amongst others Bodegas Ysios (Rioja Alavesa), and Bodegas Campo Viejo (Rioja).
