Bodegas Aragonesas
Bodegas Aragonesas was founded in 1984 when several cooperatives in the Campo de Borja region decided to unite to market the wines they were producing. The intervening years have seen this winery grow in prestige and recognition globally due to their Coto de Hayas brand, their star variety Garnacha used in the production of many wines, often originating from extremely old grapevines, and the careful management of their extensive vineyards has not gone unnoticed either.
They are located in the small town of Fuendejalón, in the foothills of the mountains forming the Sierra Moncayo, in the northern part of Zaragoza province. Supplied by the vine-growers of local cooperatives, they have access to 3,500 hectares of vineyards which equates to the largest surface area under plantation in the Campo de Borja DO. Garnacha is the principal variety, with Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah also grown among the red grapes, with whites represented by Chardonnay and Macabeo.
