The wine
Vetus is a wine in the modern style, yet without excess, which sets out to convey the typicity of Toro and its indigenous grape. A delicious wine, with a full load of black fruit, but moderate in its alcohol and acidity.
The Antón family, in charge of the Artevinowine-producing group (Finca Villacreces, Izadi, Orben), moved into the Toro region in 2003, having seen the potential of this appellation. They bought different plots and classified them according to age and vinification techniques. With the aim in mind of maintaining the essence of Toro while opening the doors to new changes, they went on to develop the Vetus wine.
What does this wine taste like?
A rich, fruity wine, with clear aromas of ripe black fruit. It has a superb, invigorating nose, both intense and warm, which is typical of Toro, and delights the drinker with hints of fruit compote and liquorice in the mouth, alongside rounded tannins, and a long alluring finish.
Drinking and storing
It will continue to gain in complexity for the next 6 or 7 years. Best in a wide glass, where the wine has plenty of space for opening up, and serve at a temperature between 14º and 16º.
Food pairing
Small game, pork roasts, and hard cheeses will achieve the right balance when accompanying food. Powerfulness, without excesses.

Bodegas Vetus
With Vetus in DO Toro, the Antón family have now added a third emblematic winemaking region to their group of wineries. As well as Rioja Alavesa (Bodegas Izadi and Bodegas Orben) and Ribera del Duero (Finca Villacreces) they now produce wine in 10 hectares of old limited-production vines in Toro, praised as "the promised land of Spanish wines" by Robert Parker. Bodegas Vetus has worked hard to produce wines with the essence of Toro ever...
