Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker

The pale red 2020 Kinki wants to showcase the versatility of Mencía, producing a low alcohol (11.2%) and light red but with good structure and very apt for the table. It has an intense nose of red berries and a balsamic touch, fresh, elegant and vibrant. It was produced with a field blend of Mencía, Alicante Bouschet, Palomino, Godello and Valenciana planted at 750 meters in altitude, and it matured in 800-liter tinajas and 225-liter oak barrels for eight months. Ortega believes the 15% or so of Alicante Bouschet (Garnacha Tintorera) gives the wine a more electric and fresh profile. It comes from a single vineyard, and it's now a Vino de Paraje La Llamilla. Villa de Congosto. It has a note of wild red berries, pretty much in the line of the 2020, beautifully perfumed, jovial and fresh. It has a light and refreshing palate, crunchy, with fine tannins, approachable but not banal. 3,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2021.

In Priorat, Ortega harvested grapes alongside Daphne Glorian and Álvaro Palacios. She later worked in a biodynamic winery in New Zealand and...
