The wine
Mas La Plana is a legend in the world of wine, and an icon amongst red wines in Spain. However, it had a complicated birth — attempting to produce a Cabernet Sauvignon (originally with a little Tempranillo too) in 1970 in Penedès which could compete with the world's best wines was no easy task. Decades of harvests and international awards later, the alluvial soil at Mas La Plana deserves all the praise it receives, and the wine produced here from vines planted back in 1964 is an essential one to understand the adaptability of this great French grape variety to some of the best vineyards in the world.
