The wine

Toro de Albalá Marqués Poley Cream, presented in a 0.5-litre bottle, is a fortified wine from the Montilla-Moriles denomination of origin. This wine is especially appreciated for its rich and complex character, the result of a careful winemaking and ageing process.

Visually, Marqués Poley Cream shows a dark mahogany colour with golden reflections, bright and attractive. The nose is intensely aromatic, offering a fusion of notes of dried fruits such as figs and sultanas, toffee, and a subtle presence of sweet spices, such as cinnamon and vanilla, derived from its long ageing in oak barrels.

On the palate, the wine is exceptionally smooth and balanced. The sweetness characteristic of cream wines is complemented by a well-integrated acidity, which adds freshness and prevents the palate from being cloying. The flavours echo the perceived aromas, with added nuances of burnt caramel and coffee, culminating in a lingering and highly satisfying finish.

Ideal to enjoy as a digestif or to accompany desserts, especially those based on chocolate or dried fruits, Toro de Albalá Marqués Poley Cream can also be served as an aperitif, pairing perfectly with blue cheeses or foie gras.

The winery

Toro Albalá

Toro Albalá

Although founded in 1844 by Antonio Sánchez Prieto in a mill known as La Noria, near the town’s castle, it was José M. Toro Albalá who restored and established the new winery in 1922 at its current facilities on the site of Aguilar’s former power station. Today, it is Antonio Sánchez Romero who has overall responsibility for the running of this centuries-old winery.
