Winemaking
Since 1968, its first year of production, Sassicaia has embodied the quintessential concept of "elegance" in Tuscany and the world. Sassicaia is the first of the Super Tuscans, the first of Bolgheri, and this primacy does not appear to be in question even in the less favourable vintages, which Tenuta San Guido challenges by extracting an exemplary red vintage after vintage, with a constancy worthy of the great chateau. A warm but regular vintage, 2017 put to the test the aristocratic cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc plants that inhabit the only legally recognised Italian monopole. But the rains at the end of August and the more pronounced day/night temperature differences towards the harvesting period gave the grapes, which were already perfectly ripe, greater volume and aromatic complexity. One vintage, the 2017 vintage of Bolgheri and Sassicaia in particular, which today represents an excellent investment to enjoy a ductile and multifaceted red wine, ready to be enjoyed immediately or later when the refinement will fill you with of surprises.
