The wine
The fourteenth-century walled village of Ghemme is the setting for the beautiful and historic cellar of Paolo and Antonello Rovellotti. The position is perfect, so much so that Rovellotti is the most central company in the village, and that places it in a magical dimension handed over to time. Further proof of this identity is the company style: only large barrels and tonneau in the cellar, only long ageing as sought out by the magnificent Nebbiolo di Ghemme.
The vineyards are located on moraine hills just outside the city, surrounded by woods as it is typical in northern Piedmont. The Rovellotti manage the vineyard according to basically biological principles, with minimal intervention and in full respect of the ecosystem, including the fauna. This is reflected in a range of simple and genuine wines, in which the territory bestows its natural majesty.
A beautiful garnet still lined with ruby, Chioso dei Pomi is the company's vintage Ghemme. It comes out with several years already behind it, and deserves further waiting to reach the peak of its expression. However, upon first impact, it immediately reveals a splendid minerality, a nice spiciness and pleasant notes of red fruits. In its youth it reveals good crunchiness and perky freshness, with a marked sapidity and a strong tannin.

Customer reviews
Delicious
Perhaps a bit rustic when compared with, for example, the Valtellinas, and not as profound as the Barolos or Barberescos, but still it has all the best aromas (violets, tar and indeed roses) and flavours of Nebbiolo. It will improve with another few years of cellaring.
Grande vino
Complex and elegant flavors of rose, violet, plum and cherry. Anise and mentholated puffs, light woody hints. Intensity and definition grow slowly in a delightful progression. Palate: full-bodied, balanced, with an elegant freshness, vivid ripe tannis and a long amazing finish with black currant and tobacco suggestions
EXCELENTE
Gran relación calidad precio, un imprescindible para mí.
