The wine
The Protos Roble is, in spite of its short ageing, a wine as elegant as its brothers in the cellar, a young red wine, smooth and full of fruity nuances.
What does this wine taste like?
Its colour is cherry red with a purple rim, and its nose is frank and intense, with aromas of red and black fruit accompanied by spicy notes and light toasted hints from its ageing. In the mouth, it is well-structured, fruity and fresh, with a sweet, balanced palate and very pleasant soft tannins.

Winemaking
It is made from 100% Tinta del País grapes from different plots of land with an average age of 25 years, which allows us to achieve an expression of all the terroirs of the firm in a single wine.
The grapes are harvested by hand in 20 kg crates and pass through a selection table. Once vatted, the must macerates with the skins for 15 days at 24º C. Once the fermentation is finished, the wine is aged for 6 months in French and American oak barrels plus a further 6 months in the bottle.

The winery
Bodegas Protos
Protos was founded in 1927 and was the first winery in the wine region known as Ribera del Duero, being its first name precisely that one: Ribera del Duero. In the early 1980s, coinciding with the creation of the Regulatory Council of the area, the winery changed its original name to Bodegas Protos (from the Greek protos, which means first). It ceded its first name to the Regulatory Council, authorising it to use that name to identify the Ribera del Duero denomination of origin....
