The wine
Prado Enea is a classic, text-book Gran Reserva, and one that any good wine enthusiast should know. A great red which, despite its strength, conveys its power in a delicate, subtle and most pleasant way.
The Prado Enea grapes originate from Muga's coolest vineyards and, along with those of Torre Muga, are the last to make their way into the winery, all down to the altitude prolonging the maturation period. The must ferments in oak tanks using native yeasts and without any form of temperature control. Maceration tends to last for up to twenty days and ageing for as long as 7 years: one year in oak casks, 3 years in oak barrels and three more years in bottle.
What does this wine taste like?
In appearance it boasts a lovely cherry colour with high density. On the nose it combines clear-cut hints of well-ripened fruit with the spiciness derived from oak ageing. Once on the palate, it delivers balsamic freshness and intensity in equal measures. Its famed, silky tannins reinforce a flavoursome, dignified passage that's both delicate and intense. A robust finish with a lengthy persistence and toasty nuances.
