The wine

Would you like to know what a Tuscan wine made from international varieties tastes like, without having to pay the price of a Sassicaia? Try this Hebo, a wine that’s concentrated in profile yet very accessible and extremely versatile when matching with food. We should raise our glasses to Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi, princess of Piombino from 1805, the lady responsible for introducing international grape varieties to this region, the Valley of Cornia; here, the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot haven’t been the result of a passing trend, but can look back over a long history. A young wine, yet there’s no doubting it has a past.

The name Hebo derives from an ancient Etruscan settlement and evokes the connection between the Petra winery and this magical terroir in Tuscany.

What does this wine taste like?

Ruby red, the bouquet reveals fresh hints of black cherries, violets, blueberries, peonies, mineral hints and nuances of Mediterranean scrub. On the palate the wine is fresh, sapid, with a slender body, pleasantly fruity, subtle in its sapidity and with balanced and gentle tannins.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker and Suckling

Established in 2011, Suvereto is a relatively new DOCG wine appellation found along the Tuscan Coast. The 2015 Suvereto Hebo is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. This is a dark and nicely concentrated Tuscan red, yet at the same time, it remains accessible and versatile in terms of its food pairing potential. It is a pleasure to drink. The wine imparts dark and soothing flavors of dark berry, dried cherry and exotic spice.

Aromas of mulberries, red plums, stewed tomatoes, tobacco and earth. It’s medium-bodied with round tannins. Fresh, juicy and savory with a flavorful finish. Drink now or hold.
