The wine

A 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) wine from the Frutos Villar family’s estate at Bodega Muruve in Toro. The de-stemmed grapes underwent fermentation in 30,000 kg capacity stainless steel tanks, and a period of barrel-ageing that lasted for 14 months, with racking every 3 months. The bottles then remained in an underground cellar for 8 months prior to being released.

A deep cherry colour with violet hues, dense and bright, the wine reveals an aroma exuding creamy notes of oak and fine wood, with fruit-laden undertones of blackberries and other black fruits. The palate is meaty, powerful and structured, highlighting ripe fruit notes mellowed by fine oak ageing, and is warm and velvety.

Aged for 14 months in 90% American and 10% French oak barrels.

Bodega Calderona, their second winery, was set up in Cigales in 1960 and has 105 hectares of vineyards, producing wines which...
