The wine

Miceli, one of the oldest and most classic wineries in Sicily, and definitely one of the first to aim for quality by abandoning the sale of bulk wines or blending wines, shows a different and original side to Pantelleria with the YRNM. YRNM is a Moscato d'Alessandria, or Zibibbo, from grapes which are slightly macerated and aged dry, produced on the island of Pantelleria, on classic volcanic soil lashed by the strong characteristic winds of the territory.

Straw yellow to golden, YRNM reveals a delicate aroma, with scents of linden tree and jasmine combined with the more full-bodied fruity hints of peach and melon, pineapple and white mulberry. After a while typical mineral aromas emerge, accompanied by wisps of aromatic herbs, from thyme to marjoram.

The palate is soothing and intriguing. Aromatic, warm, elegantly structured and gentle, it is pleasantly fresh, very soft and persistent, of considerable consistency and a great pseudo-caloric feeling. The aftertaste, sapid and well-rounded, takes you back to the mineral notes of the aroma, and at the same time reveals very fine sapidity.

Miceli

The Miceli story is the typical one of a family wine grown in western Sicily. An area where for decades quantity has surpassed quality, from which only recently the most expert winegrowers have freed themselves. In the thirties Ignazio Miceli was a precursor of the turning point. He was the helmsman, who disembarked from the wine tanker ships that sold bulk wine in the hold from Castellammare to the world and opened a sales shop in Palermo. The recent history of the Micelis...
