The wine

The magician Louis Latour repeats experience. After the successful response of his vineyards in Ardèche and Var, he decides to replant, in 2010, 20 ha of Pinot Noir in historically planted plots of Gamay in the so-called small Tuscany (an area 40 kms NW of Lyon, in the heart of the Beaujolais), thus exporting its Burgundian know-how outside the Côte d'Or.

This project extends over more than 20 hectares today. Its clay-calcareous soil stands out, tinged with iron oxides that give the terroir a very particular ochre colour, hence its name ('the golden stones'). This composition of the soil, added to the altitude of the vineyard (280-400 meters above sea level), contributes to the production of this surprising wine that combines richness and freshness with the beautiful aromatic complexity of Pinot Noir.

Bright red and intense with garnet reflections. On the nose, a mixture of flowers, red berries and soft spices is discovered, as a result of a combined ageing in stainless steel tanks and oak casks. On the palate, it is crispy, round and broad. The Louis Latour Pierres Dorées is a wine with a great freshness, accentuated by the concentrated aromas of wild fruits, and a magnificent length.
