La Forcallà de Antonia
2022Spec sheet
The wine
La Forcallà de Antonia is produced using fruit from just one vineyard planted with the old grape variety known as Forcallà or Forcallat. Since 2011 the Bodega Rafael Cambra winery has been working to recover this variety which was once a common grape in south-east Spain but had almost disappeared. La Forcallà is a magnificent wine to discover the more intimate side to the Rafael Cambra winery, a wine which allows us to travel back in time and enjoy how wines used to taste. Through the wine’s name, La Forcallà de Antonia, Rafael pays homage to the owner of the vineyard, responsible for ensuring the survival of this fascinating grape variety.
What does this wine taste like?
La Forcallà de Antonia has a more varietal character, displaying a little more rusticity than wines made from other local grapes, with earthy tones and a rough texture. Its nose has a great character, with unique notes of a variety of very fresh red fruits and a strong personality centred around a spontaneous elegance. It is a very fruity wine with well-integrated oak and the balance we have come to expect in the best Mediterranean wines. It has a medium body and well-rounded tannins, and offers amazing value for money.
