The wine
A single vineyard wine made traditionally from the grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines planted over 40 years ago. The vineyard covers an area of 16 hectares, lying on compact, calcareous-clay soil in the centre of the estate.
This cherry-red coloured wine releases a wealth of aromas on the nose, with ripe red fruit berries and preserves prevailing, along with raisins and plums on a background of toasty and spicy notes acquired from the barrel. Offering a voluptuous entry, the palate shows great structure and elegance, with very pleasant tannins and a lengthy finish.
Aged for 18 months in French and American oak barrels. Subsequent repose in bottle for a further 24 months.

Quite a legend inside and outside the sphere of wine, Jean Leon is none other than Ceferino Carrión, from Santander and a humble background. After a complicated childhood that took him to Barcelona, Paris and New York, he...
