Ilercavònia is a single varietal Garnacha Blanca from Terra Alta, a region that in Iberian times was inhabited by a tribe called the Ilercavons. Just like them, the present-day inhabitants of Cataluña's most southerly denomination feel strongly rooted to their land and traditions, for example "el ball de la dansada" (a type of dance) or their favourite grape: the Garnacha Blanca.
This variety reveals all its merits in this particular wine with its fragrant nose, resulting from a long pelicular maceration. Its ample palate is coated in fine salt, the distinctive touch of many of the region's good whites. Delicate bitter touches of cool minerality swathe the fruit's ripeness (melon and pear), the wild fennel and white flowers. Its aromas overwhelm in a very positive way, obliging our senses to make a huge effort to take them in completely. On the palate, there's pure balance, the perfect equation between powerfulness and elegance, complexity and subtlety. It's long and persistent on the memory, so much so that it proves very difficult to put the glass down, therefore we recommend drinking it accompanied with food which will enhance its merits.

Outstanding value
Another well made Terra Alta garnacha blanca (apparently something like half of all the vines in the world grow in this region). This one has a noticeable touch of oak and is made in the modern style. Well balanced and crowd pleasing, it is a good match for food or can be enjoyed on its own. Very keenly priced for the quality, another great example of the value that can be found in Spanish wines.

Excellent value for money
The wine's fruit is subtle, all apples and pears. Also, it is creamy without resorting to wood ageing, which is almost always a plus. Despite developing a slightly candied edge with air, it never tires you. A little beauty.

Herausfordernd und begeisternd
„Altavins Viticultors“, der Name einer 2001 gegründeten, sehr innovativen Weinkellerei in Batea, ist ein schönes Wortspiel: Zum einen wird damit die Herkunft der Weine (Terra Alta) signalisiert, gleichzeitig aber auch die hohe Erwartung an deren Qualität. Alle neun Altavins-Weine erfüllen diese Erwartungen, die fünf sortenreinen sogar auf erstaunlich hohem Niveau. So wie der „Ilercavonia“, einer von zwei tollen sortenreinen weißen Garnatxas von Altavins. Name und Etikett erinnern, ähnlich wie beim Almodi, an das kulturelle Erbe als Basis des Erfolgs im südlichen Tarragona, hier an die „Ilercavonier“, ein Stamm der Iberer aus dem sechsten bis ersten Jahrhundert v. Chr. Der „Ilercavonia 2018“ ist ein wunderbar komponierter weißer Garnatxa, kurz mazeriert wie ein Brisat, was ihm überreiche Duftnuancen und außergewöhnliche Geschmacksvielfalt verleiht. Zu erwarten sind Birne, Apfel, Ananas und Mango im Pingpong mit reichlich Wildblüten; eher cremig im Mund und sehr komplex, anregendes Säurespiel, fruchtige Überraschungen, warme Gewürznoten, langanhaltend. Herausfordernd und begeisternd.
Una garnacha blanca muy fina y elegante. Destaca por su sabor refinado y nada aspero. Un fijo en tu bodega que no puede faltar. La RCP en este caso es de 10, y en Vinissimius por supuesto!
