The wine

González Byass Alfonso Oloroso Seco is a fortified wine from Jerez, made from 100% Palomino Fino grapes. Aged using the traditional system of soleras and criaderas, this Oloroso is aged for more than 8 years in American oak casks, which gives it its distinctive character. On the nose, it stands out for its intense aromas of dried fruits, such as walnuts and almonds, accompanied by subtle spicy and toasted notes. On the palate, it is dry, powerful and with great structure, offering a velvety sensation and a long, lingering finish. Perfect to accompany red meats, cured cheeses or game dishes.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Jancis Robinson

Amber colour. Musky, damp undergrowth and old books on the nose. Richly savoury and oxidative. Excellent density and richness on the palate. Very nutty, but there is a tang of dried citrus to keep the heady oxidative notes in check. It feels old yet alive. Toasted nuts linger on a very long finish.
