The wine

Girlan Fass Nr. 9 is an extraordinary red for the whole meal, obtained from schiava grapes (Vernatsch) also called red vernaccia, one of the most widely cultivated vines in South Tyrol, and historically the "everyday" wine for South Tyroleans. The characteristics of the grape are fragrant and fruity aromas with slight hints of spice. In the glass it shows a brilliant pale ruby red, perfectly transparent, similar to a light pink. The aromas are intense, fine and elegant, with notes of rose, wild strawberries and fresh raspberries, with a hint of undergrowth and a slight spice of cinnamon. On the palate it flows fresh but soft, with light and well-polished tannins and a slightly bitter finish with rhubarb tones. The persistence is rather long, even if fine and played on the notes of fresh red fruits. Intoxicating, it becomes the master of the table and goes very well with lean cold cuts, even slightly smoked, game, roast meats and cheeses.

Girlan

The Girlan winery was founded in 1923, in a historic Cinquecento building in the town of Girlan / Cornaiano, within the municipality of Appiano. 23 vine growers started up this cooperative winery, exemplifying not only the strength of the union, but also giving the opportunity to attain excellence through this strategy. Nowadays, the winery can count on 200 members whose lands are on average 1 hectare in size, some of which lie in parcels held in the highest regard in the Alto...
