Forteto della Luja Barbera d'Asti Mon Ross
2023Spec sheet
The wine
Mon Ross is a Barbera from a winery that is also a WWF oasis and is therefore totally committed to environmental sustainability. It is a very typical but at the same time original Piedmontese red. The grapes are crushed and immediately fermented with specially selected culture yeasts in small, heat-regulated vats, followed, as per tradition, by a second fermentation and ageing in small, “exhausted” oak barrels for 4 months to assist olfactory cleansing. Following stabilisation, favoured by the winter cold, the wine is bottled in early spring after the first moon of March.
What does this wine taste like?
Forteto della Luja Mon Ross is a deep fascinating wine, with a lively, bright ruby red colour. On the nose it is distinctive and persuasive, with notes of red fruits typical of the terroir. On the palate it stands out for its fruitiness and vinosity, but even more so for its enveloping and velvety body, always accompanied by excellent freshness. Drunk young, it is a wine for the whole meal, particularly suitable with vegetable soups, light meats and Italian pasta; drunk in later years, it is a wine that pairs well with roasts, stews and cheeses. A wine to always have in the cellar and perfect for all meals.
