Formiga’s first impressions on the nose remind us of wines undergoing carbonic maceration, when notions of cherries and strawberry candy come to the fore; a good swirl of the glass will allow the aromas to develop so that aniseed and figs appear. Somewhat unusually, Formiga releases the smell of black pepper and stalks, very much in common with certain wines from the Côtes du Rhône.
The bouche is flavoursome and concentrated, with an appreciable amount of excellent maturity coming over perfectly well; just the right level of maturity, Atlantic-textured (subtle and smooth) expressing elegance and freshness. Formiga is a wine that gently soothes the palate!
Aged for 8 months in French and American oak barrels.

Beautiful gift!
After drinking this in a restaurant on holiday, I ordered it as a gift - it was really well received. Good price, although delivery was pricey - however arrived on the day as promised and in perfect condition. Leckerschmecker mit toller Ausstattung
Das ist nicht besonders weinbetont, aber eben auch ein toller Wert an sich: Selten solch eine schöne Ausstattung eines wirklich guten Weins erlebt: Kapsel, Korken und Etikett passen wunderbar zusammen, das Ganze mit einem echtem Gaumenschmeichler ist schon ein tolles Erlebnis. Nix für anspruchsvolle, tiefgründige Gespräche, einfach eine tolle Cuvée, wie man sie lieben lernt im Priorat - auch wenn die Einheimischen dort eigentlich ganz andere, schwierigere Weine schätzen (...100% Carigena können kräuterig, aber auch reell anstrengend sein...)

Noch ein Geheimtipp, doch wie lange noch ?
Dieser junge Rotwein (in diesem Fall Jahrgang 2014) wurde im Rahmen der Nobelpreisverleihung in Stockholm 2017 verkostet. Kein Rioja und kein Ribero de Duero !!
Ein Priorat !! Probiert ihn solange es ihn noch zu einem erschwinglichen Preis gibt. Kräftig ohne Barrique, so wie ich den Rotwein mag.
