The wine
Fontanabianca's Barbaresco is a stylistically perfect and harmonious Nebbiolo. It rests for about 15 months in large casks and barriques. The colour is a decided garnet, the nose is reminiscent of small red fruits and spices, with refreshing hints of pine, eucalyptus, herbs and iris. On the palate, it is powerful, complex and multi-faceted. Vigorous, with measured tannins and a tangy, sometimes rustic sapidity. A real textbook Barbaresco. It should therefore be served with first courses in meat sauce, roasts, braised meats, game and, naturally, with a cutting board of well-aged cheeses.

At the helm today is Matteo Pola, who was the first to be infected by his father Aldo's irresistible love of the vineyard. "Wine is aroma and elegance", is the family motto. And it can't be said that this principle hasn't inspired the Fontanabianca style, which tells...
