Domaine Sol Payré Vertigo
2018Spec sheet
The wine
Domaine Sol Payré Vertigo is a wine produced in the Côtes Catalanes appellation, a land of traditions and contrasts where intense sunlight and the Tramuntana northern wind rule against the backdrop of the majestic Pyrenees mountains. Clay loam soils in vineyards currently undergoing a conversion to organic agricultural methods are home to top quality vines. Vertigo is made with the least possible intervention and ages for 12 months in stainless steel tanks.
What does this wine taste like?
A wonderful blend of Grenache (70%) and Syrah, Vertigo displays a claret colour with gentle red-tile coloured glints. It opens up timidly in the nose, with aromas of ripe fruit dominated by prunes. Honest and rounded in the mouth, its smooth tannins ensure it is a wine ready for enjoying straight away although its concentration also means it has a promising potential for laying down for up to 8 years.

A century later, the firm is still run by the Payré family with the fourth and fifth generation currently at the helm. The Domaine now owns 60 hectares...
