The wine

Cims de Porrera Clàssic 2017 is a single varietal red wine made exclusively from Carignan grapes coming from old vineyards located in the Priorat region of Catalonia, Spain. This wine is produced from vines planted on slate soils known as ‘llicorella’, which gives it a distinctive mineral character.

It has a deep red colour with garnet reflections. On the nose, it is distinguished by its complex aromas of ripe black fruit, such as blackberries and plums, combined with floral, cocoa and balsamic notes, over a deep mineral background. Ageing in French oak barrels also adds subtle notes of liquorice, toffee and coffee. On the palate, it is a powerful and structured wine, with firm tannins and balanced acidity. Ripe fruit flavours intertwine with notes of bitter herbs and a long, mineral finish. The ageing in barrels for 16 months and a minimum of 5 years in bottle give it a remarkable complexity and elegance.

This wine is ideal to accompany hearty dishes such as red meats, game dishes and cured cheeses. We recommend decanting it at least two hours before serving to fully appreciate its aromatic and taste profile.

Later on, Lluís Llach left the company to dedicate himself fully to his own personal project at Vall Llach, and for some years the...
