The wine
Cardinale is a unique wine throughout Napa Valley, as it is a blend of grapes from almost every denomination on the mountain: Mt. Veeder, Spring Mountain, Howell Mountain, and Diamond Mountain. Above 1,500 feet high (460m), the luchanse grapes form to mature and form small berries with intense, thick-skinned flavor.
The master winemaker Chris Carpenter combines this wine every year expertly, optimizing the harmony of wine with acidity, structure, alcohol, fruits and soil elements, in a way that simply can not be done in a single vineyard. This is the key to the greatness and uniqueness of this wine, and the type of selection practiced in the style of the 1st Crus of Bordeaux.
