The wide range of Gerardo Giuratrabocchetti's cellars represents one of the most advanced and innovative experiments on the Aglianico del Vulture. It has in fact been discovered that in this powerfully volcanic corner of Basilicata, Aglianico is very well expressed not only as a powerful and vertical red, but also in other forms. The Rogito is the rosé side, and certainly embodies the umpteenth challenge won by the Rionero winery.
The beautiful cellar that houses the Allier oak barriques where the Rogito is aged is dug out of the typical Vulture volcanic tuffs. A rosé, therefore, of international conception, and certainly not destined for pleasure alone. What is, in any case, a distinctive trait, since Aglianico, if briefly macerated on the skins, preserves this natural trait, especially in a decidedly mineral terroir like the Vulture.
Deriving from excellent almost centenarian rows cultivated organically, the Rogito, after the brief maceration on the skins, rests just one year in barrique. It receives an intense claret, crystalline and shiny colour. The bouquet highlights aromas of small red fruits on a carpet of pleasant notes of withered flowers and spices, also provided by aging in wood. The taste is enveloping and fresh, with a soft entrance and considerable persistency accompanied by continuous fruity and floral references. It is extremely versatile in combinations with both meat and fish. It requires medium structured dishes, from appetizers to cheeses.
