The wine

When in 1979 Giovanni Allegrini, moved by a brilliant intuition and a deep knowledge of his beloved Valpolicella, decided to plant only Corvina Veronese grapes on the top of La Grola, perhaps he did not imagine the extraordinary success that this wine would have achieved.

The top of the Grola hill has a very small plateau of less than three hectares dazzling for the whiteness of the limestone, planted entirely in corvina since the late seventies. The highly qualitative viticulture delivers grapes of great personality and perfect ripeness to the winery. After more than four years of refinement, the wine is extraordinarily fresh and crunchy, ample in the aromas of fruit, spices and officinal herbs, full-bodied and juicy and long to drink.

La Poja is ideal to accompany roasted red meat and game. Excellent when paired with non-spicy aged cheeses, it masterfully combines with dishes based on black and white truffles.

Allegrini

Founded in 1854, Allegrini is one of the companies that best exemplify the objective of producing wines that not only have a distinctive character but also international appeal. From being a small, family-run firm, the winery has extended its range of activity concentrating particularly on its Venetian origins, with the Corte Giara, and on its huge heritage in Tuscany, with the prestigious labels of Poggio San Polo.
