The wine
The Dolcetto Diano d'Alba from the Claudio Alario winery is a local single varietal Dolcetto from the Langhe, the son of the Sorì di Montagrillo cru, a vineyard correctly exposed to the sun, which, as per the textbook, gives the wine the right fruit and generosity. This is a drinkable, elegant, flowing and satisfying red wine that steers clear of the commitment needed when drinking complex and redundant wines. It matures for about a year in steel and is then bottled. The winery is waiting to be discovered. Run by the Alario family, it is an excellent winery that looks to the future through careful and quality viticulture, without the use of herbicides and synthetic products.
What does this wine taste like?
The wine is a beautiful bright ruby red colour; the bouquet is welcoming, dominated by intense floral scents of violets and fruity hints of red fruits, plums and strawberries. It has an inviting balsamic and slightly spicy olfactory finish. On the palate it is dry, warm, soft, captivating and fresh; one sip is never enough. Perfect for that in-between autumn season.
