The wine
This wine falls under the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation and is produced from 4.5 hectares of vines averaging 30 years old, on clay-limestone and sandy-gravel soils.
In 1989, Jean-Luc Thunevin and his wife, Murielle Andraud, purchased a tiny 0.6 hectare parcel in the small valley of Saint-Émilion, and that saw the start of their Valandraud venture which released its first vintage in 1991. Since then they have acquired other parcels and estates, particularly in Saint-Sulpice de Faleyrens, Saint-Émilion and Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse.
Aged for 18-20 months in new barrels.
