Vespaiola
Vespaiola is one of the most original and interesting native grape varieties of Veneto. It thrives in a very confined area between the Astico and Brenta rivers, in the hills of the Breganze DOC, where it has been grown since 1881. Grapes with a good sugar concentration, it owes its name perhaps to the fact that its grapes are delicious food for wasps. These characteristics make vespaiola particularly suitable for withering. The bunches are hung from attic beams, twisted on ropes: Torcolato, the noblest sweet wine of the territory, very fresh and sapid, of particular spiciness, is obtained. Vespaiola is now being successfully experimented, even in a dry version with mineral notes, quince and almond, or vinified sweet after an attack of noble rot.
