Tintilia
In a small and rugged region like Molise, the native grape variety could only be rare and rustic. Once considered a relative of bovale, today tintilia is considered of Spanish origin (its name alludes to its rich colour), even if in the region it is rightly celebrated as the grape of the territory, to be protected. Not very vigorous and with low yields, it has risked being supplanted by Montepulciano and other grape varieties, but it is now well established. It gives rise to a wine with a deep ruby colour, with a fruity and spicy bouquet. The palate receives sensations of warmth and complex aromatic hints that are expressed with good persistence. The tannin and acidity are very strong, which has led many producers to age it in wood. It can also be enjoyed as a rosé, intriguing and velvety.
