Teroldego

The Teroldego grape variety, whose name probably means 'Gold of the Tirol' according to many, works its wonders in the mineral-rich alluvial soils on the sunny Dolomite hillsides of the magical Piana Rotaliana region to create subtle, extremely elegant wines. Located in the heart of the winemaking region of Trentino in the Adige valley, the spectacular landscapes of Piana Rotaliana are shared among three towns: Grumo-San Michele, Mezzocorona, and Mezzolombardo.

Ruby-coloured with maroon hints appearing as it ages, Teroldego wine is a cheerful one in the nose, with fine sensations of ripe red fruit, jam, violets, and, occasionally, a touch of liquorice. It is fresh and notably smooth in the mouth thanks to a careful refining process in steel or wooden vats. In fact, Teroldego Riserva wines, aged for at least two years, are becoming more and more common, as well as Gran Selezione (Selection) wines. A warm full-bodied wine with pleasant tannins and a lingering almond finish, it promises to age well in the bottle.
