Riesling Italico
Of unclear origin, perhaps even Italian, Riesling italico has nothing to do with Rhine Riesling. It is different, in essence, because it has neither its class nor its longevity, and is expressed in ready-made, drinkable whites, not infrequently sparkling. Straw-yellow with greenish reflections, the bouquet is reminiscent of apple and apricot; on the palate it has a bitterish aftertaste and light body. It is also vinified still as an aperitif wine.
