Ciliegiolo
Arrived in Italy perhaps from Spain in the nineteenth century, ciliegiolo is a red grape with a soft colour, widespread especially in Liguria and Tuscany, especially in the lower Maremma. In both areas, it gives light, light, winy, fruity and simple reds of a very light colour, so much so that it also expresses itself very well as a fragrant rosé and as an aperitif. In some tufaceous areas of Maremma, towards Sovana and Pitigliano, it manages to take on a more complete profile, and gives reds of greater structure and depth, both fruity and mineral.
